For Quilly Willy Days Sports Days, Caroline’s Restaurant is offering a $7.00 pancake breakfast on both Saturday, August 28th and Sunday, August 29th!  Caroline’s is open until 8p.m. — Check their Facebook Page to view their menu and daily/weekend lunch and dinner specials!  During Quilly Days, both Jig’s Corner Stop Cafe and Tasty Garden Restaurant are open until 9p.m.!!  Visit Jig’s on Facebook to view their menu.

We have Chariots, Chuckwagons & Gymkhana on both Saturday and Sunday.  Kids’ Rides and Games, Burger & Confectionary Booths, and BINGO!  Saturday afternoon 3-5p.m., join us for an EPIC Foam Party, sponsored by AE Engineering.

Canada Day Celebrations in Porcupine Plain will be as follows:

1. Parade at 7p.m.
   Spectators may watch from anywhere along the parade route but must maintain the appropriate 2-meter physical distancing between household groups.  Masks are mandatory where physical distancing cannot be maintained.
   Treats and candies will not be thrown from the parade floats; rather, Celebration Kits will be safely handed to children along the parade route.

2. Virtual Show at 8:30p.m.
   Tune in to the Town of Porcupine Plain’s Facebook Page at 8:30p.m. to watch our virtual show, including live and pre-recorded performances by community groups and individuals, showcasing local talents and embracing the multicultural spirit of our community.
   
   
3. Fireworks at Dusk (approx 10p.m.)
   While we encourage residents to watch from their own yards if they are able to, spectators may watch the fireworks show from at or near the Porcupine Place Sports Grounds so long as physical distancing can be maintained between household groups.  Guidelines will be posted at the Sports Grounds.

If you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please remain at home.
The parade and fireworks will also be live-streamed on Facebook for anyone unable to attend.

Porcupine Plain has entered the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge!

we are a multi-generational family-owned business who, during COVID lockdown in Spring 2020, had a crazy notion to try something new! Thus began the inquiry into “what’s going on with the old Double J building”!  

We called and asked questions, but in the end just had to be patient until that FOR SALE sign was placed on the building. Thankfully, all our stars aligned and we were successful in securing the building for our new adventure! 

Many hours have been put in from three generations of our family to get the café on the highway up and running, and we are excited to share it with you!  We are kicking our journey off with a limited menu to start, which will include a small variety of burgers, subs, sides, appetizers and ice cream.  We will slowly expand our menu and ice cream bar as time passes, so be on the lookout for what is new at Jig’s Café!

While we may not be able to offer dine-in service at this time, we look forward to the day when we can host you in our establishment.  At this time, we are able to serve you at our drive-through or at counter for take-out!

BEHIND THE NAME:  Little Jig is a name our son/grandson/nephew, Reed, acquired from his great Auntie Gail when he and his mamma were living with her in Saskatoon.  It was a name that stuck!  It is something we all still call him when we are reliving our memories we had with him.

The Town of Porcupine Plain is excited to announce
the expansion of our Veterans Banner Project!

With funding received from Veterans Affairs Canada, the Town of Porcupine Plain will move ahead with an expansion of the Veterans Banners for McAllister Avenue.  If you have a loved one that you would like to honour, please contact Koral at the Town Office:

As funding is not unlimited, additional banners will be on a first-come first-served basis.  However, if you are interested in donating to assist in covering any shortfall, please contact the Town Office. 

 

The Town of Porcupine Plain would like to recognize our collaborations with and the contributions made by the RM of Porcupine #395. 

Not only do the Town and RM join forces in operating the Porcupine & District Fire Department (along with the RM of Bjorkdale – Division 1), we also jointly operated the Porcupine Regional Waste Management Authority (PRWMA).  The RM of Porcupine has taken over the waste site location, where they now operate the Porcupine Transfer Station.  We are still working together with all partners to have the PRWMA decommissioned completely.

The RM of Porcupine contributes yearly to facility operation costs; these funds are provided directly to the Chase Place Arena, Curling Rink and Larwood-Shaw Memorial Swimming Pool.  The RM also assisted with the renovations for the Medical Clinic at Quilly’s Community Place and contribute toward doctor recruitment efforts and incentives. 

Last year, we were also successful in creating the new STARS Landing Pad, ensuring residents the swiftest takeoff in their time of need.  The RM and Town continue to work together on the maintenance of the landing pad and the airstrip.

Between the Town of Porcupine Plain and the RM of Porcupine #395, we have been able to offer Koral Kriger full-time employment, which has proven to work out wonderfully for all.

The RM of Porcupine #395 has been splendid to work with.  Thank you for your invaluable partnership and efforts to create a viable and sustainable community.
