Happy 70th Birthday, Byron!

What a wonderful day it was as friends, family, and neighbours came together to celebrate Byron Jamieson’s 70th birthday on Saturday, August 1st!

The celebration was marked with a memorable walk down Main Street, led by the birthday boy himself, proudly playing his signature drum; his niece, Clair Miller, accompanied him and filled the air with the sound of bagpipes. The pair made their way from the Post Office to the Sunset Club, where guests gathered throughout the day to enjoy a BBQ lunch, to share stories and laughter, and to celebrate a man who has become such a familiar and cherished part of our community.

Byron has been a familiar face in Porcupine Plain for many years. Whether keeping the beat during our community parades or attending local events with his trademark smile, he has become someone many residents know and appreciate.  It was heartwarming to see so many people take time out of their day to celebrate this milestone with him.

Instead of gifts, Byron asked guests to bring a non-perishable food item for the Community Cupboard.  Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who attended, a fantastic collection of food will be donated to help support local families in need.  This thoughtful gesture reflects Byron’s generous spirit and turned his special day into an opportunity to give back to others.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by to celebrate, share memories, and help make Byron’s special day one to remember.  Thank you also to everyone who helped organize the celebration.

Happy 70th Birthday, Byron!  Here’s to many more years of drumming, smiling, and bringing people together.
