Porcupine Plain
The Porcupine Plain & District Museum is a designated heritage site which offers thousands of different authentic articles open to the public to come and view. It has everything — wood burning stoves, antique machinery, an antique truck, collectable dishes and cutlery, and traditional clothing, as well as a bird display showcasing hundreds of birds from the Porcupine Plain and Somme areas. There is also a display in the main building of photos, uniforms, accessories, and other artifacts pertaining to the many soldiers who settled in our areas.
The Town of Porcupine Plain and Porcupine Plain & District Museum will host a Pysanky (Ukrainian egg) decorating class utilizing the space that is generally used by the community’s Painting Club and, while the class is in session, the Museum will have several Ukrainian artifacts and clothing displayed in the lobby, to showcase our community’s rich Ukrainian heritage.
